In just two weeks the Tanares Kickstarter has blown past its $50,000 goal and is currently nearing 1.5 million with over 7,000 backers. The project is helmed by industry heavy hitters Ed Greenwood, Skip Williams, and Amy Vorpahl. Tanares promises to be a massive overhaul to D&D 5e with a new dystopian high-fantasy setting, features, and adventures. Additionally, stretch goals have been met to include the production of tie-in mini sets and board games.
Dragonlance/Ravenloft Creators Announce New 5e Setting
Tracy Hickman and Laura Hickman are back with Skyraiders of Abarax. Not much is known about the project aside from the “pirates of the air” vibe from the title and concept art, but the kickstarter is planned to be launched this fall. Given the track record of the Hickmans, it’s something worth keeping an eye on.
Gen Con Kicks Off This Week
Gen Con Indy carries on despite lingering pandemic concerns. As a result, the event size has been scaled back and there will be some notable absences from the physical convention such as Asmodee, Ultra Pro, and Paizo. However, some of the companies will have a presence in the online portion of the convention, which continues from its inception last year.
Renegade Games Announces Transformers RPG
Renegade Games, makers of the Vampire: The Masquerade Rivals Expandable Card Game, recently announced they will be releasing a Transformers tabletop roleplaying game. Little is known about the nuts and bolts of the game system, but it strives to “focus on fun storytelling and epic combat.” The new rpg is scheduled for a March 2022 release.
